Voyage Repair Station Port Angeles

The Voyage Repair Station at Port Angeles, is located in the quiet community of Port Angeles on the Puget Sound directly North of Olympic National Park. The shipyard repair station is one of three repair stations operated by Cascade General Portland Shipyards. Cascade General operates the largest vessel repair facility of the West coast at Swan Island, in Portland Oregon. The Voyage Repair Station operates as a satellite site for Puget Sound repairs, along with an additional satellite location at Astoria, OR. Cascade General prides itself on its ability to respond to nearly any ship repair situation, large or small, in a timely and cost-effective manner.

The skilled workforce at all locations is available in a range of repair capacities 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week. These talented craftsmen are experts in nearly any marine repair discipline, including but not limited to, machinery, steel construction, piping, electrical, rigging, and grit-blasting. The nature of these disciplines requires an immense amount of experience, with which Cascade General offers decades of accountability and customer satisfaction in these fields. To complement the expansive qualifications of their workforce, the company also operates a highly modern and mechanized infrastructure to complement the labor. The facilities feature any number of land and water cranes, workboats, portable welding services, and on-site truck fleet. The Voyage Repair Station at Port Angeles is fully capable of any of these services. The Cascade General shipyard and each of its satellite locations offer the highest quality of repairs within the regulations set forth by the American Bureau of Shipping and the United States Coast Guard.

The skilled labor required by a shipyard workforce is due to the precarious nature of the field. Shipyards are dangerous places, the employees of which encounter circumstances each day that could be potentially life threatening. Some of these circumstances involving large machinery and high-pressure sand blasting seem more obvious than others. Not to be overlooked however, is the danger of exposure to potentially life-threatening toxins, such as airborne asbestos particles.

Airborne asbestos particles are of particular risk to employees of shipyards, such as the Voyage Repair Station at Port Angeles. These workers, who engage in repairs of older vessels, confront potential exposure to asbestos particles every day. Particularly in older installations, the consequences of such exposures can be quite serious. Asbestos has been linked to numerous forms of respiratory ailments, including the lung-related cancer, mesothelioma. It is important to seek the counsel of a licensed physician if you think you may have been exposed.
