Did you mean Mesothelioma?

“Mesotholoma”is a frequent misspelling of the word mesothelioma (“pronounced mez-uh-thee-lee-YOH-muh). Once diagnosed with mesothelioma, new patients are encouraged to seek out information on both the more established therapies (radiation, chemotherapy and surgery), as well as some of the newer approaches.

While there are a bevy of pallative treatment methods available, there is no cure for mesothelioma cancer. Patients typically live between nine months and two years following their diagnosis, as mesothelioma is particularly aggressive.

Those who worked aboard World War II-era naval ships are considered to be at risk of developing mesothelioma cancer and other asbestos-caused diseases. Asbestos exposure is the only conclusive cause of mesothelioma cancer, and other professionals who work around asbestos – construction workers, roofers, HVAC technicians – are also at an increased risk of developing mesothelioma, asbestosis, or lung cancer.
