Did you mean Mesothelioma?
“Mesotheolima” is a frequent misspelling of the word mesothelioma (“pronounced mez-uh-thee-lee-YOH-muh). An extremely rare form of cancer that typically occurs in the pleural lining of the lungs, mesothelioma is very aggressive and has no known cure.
Certain groups of individuals, including World War II veterans, construction workers, and automobile repair technicians, are considered to be more likely than others to develop mesothelioma. This is because these individuals are more likely to be exposed to asbestos while at work. Asbestos is the only conclusive cause of mesothelioma cancer.
Following asbestos exposure, an individual may not experience symptoms (lingering cough, shortness of breath, chest pain) for up to fifty years, as mesothelioma has a very long latency period. Once diagnosed, the average patient has less than two years to live, and only temporary and pallative treatment methods are available.
If you or a loved one has been exposed to asbestos, it is imperative that you speak with a physician regarding your likelihood of contracting an asbestos illness.
