Did you mean Mesothelioma?

“Mesopheleoma” is a misspelling of the word mesothelioma (“pronounced mez-uh-thee-lee-YOH-muh). This type of cancer, often found in the lining of the lungs, heart, or abdomen, is not diagnosed very frequently. Nevertheless, once someone is diagnosed, it is important to ask what treatments are available. At present, the most common types of treatment may include one or more of the following: surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.

Certain groups of professionals – construction workers, homebuilders, and automobile repair technicians, for example – are more likely to develop mesothelioma cancer because they are far more prone to asbestos exposure, which is the only confirmed cause of mesothelioma cancer.

Individuals who are likely to be exposed to asbestos should speak with their doctor and monitor their respiratory health closely as they age, as mesothelioma has a latency period of as many as fifty years following asbestos exposure.
