Did you mean Mesothelioma?
Mesofelioma is a misspelled version of the word “mesothelioma,” (“pronounced mez-uh-thee-lee-YOH-muh). Mesothelioma is an aggressive malignant tumor that originates within the thin membranes which surround the body’s internal organs. The most common variety of the disease is pleural mesothelioma, which originates in the membrane which surrounds the lungs (pleura). Other varieties of the disease occur in the peritoneum (surrounds the abdominal cavity) and pericardium (surrounds the heart). Mesothelioma is known to be caused only by exposure to asbestos, a fibrous mineral used for industrial capacities throughout the 20th century.
Mesothelioma has now known cure but has been effectively treated in different patients through the use of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Treatment options will depend on the extent of the disease at diagnosis and general patient health. Symptoms may include chest pain, difficulty breathing, and cough. Those who were wrongfully exposed to asbestos and have been diagnosed with mesothelioma or another asbestos-related ailment have been able to collect damages for their injuries from manufacturers who knew the dangers of the mineral but continued to expose people to it unknowingly.
