Interrogatory - During the pre-trial discovery process, the parties involved in the suit may exchange written questionnaires used to gather information about facts and issues pertaining to the suit. These are known as interrogatories and are common in most lawsuits. An interrogatory can only be used between the parties involved in the suit and not with witnesses, who must instead be deposed in order to gain information. Lawyers may design their own sets of questions for an interrogatory or may use a standard form.
