Dr. Scott Swanson is a surgeon the Mount Sinai Medical Center in the division of thoracic and cardiothoracic surgery. He is also a collaborative investigator on the progressive Nextran/Brigham and Women’s sponsored research grant, which is currently developing an early stage model for airward transplantation.
Dr. Swanson received his bachelor’s degree at Amherst University or Amherst, Massachusetts in 1981. From Amherst he enrolled in Harvard Medical School in Boston, receiving his medical degree in 1985. He completed his internship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and residency programs in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery, likewise at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Additionally, Dr. Swanson has, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, completed residencies in cardiac surgery and thoracic surgery.
Dr. Swanson’s primary interests are lung cancer, video-assisted thoracic surgery, lung transplantation, esophageal surgery, and thoracic oncology.
