Dr. Bueno is the Associate Chief of Medicine in the Division of Thoracic Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. A graduate of Harvard Medical School, (1985) Dr. Bueno completed his residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, as well as a fellowship in Thoracic Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital (1995).
Certified since 1993, Dr. Bueno also spent time teaching at Harvard Medical School in the 1990’s. His focus includes treating patients suffering from mesothelioma cancer, as well as patients with lung cancer. An avid researcher, Dr. Bueno continues to study the behavior of malignant mesothelioma cancer cells and hopes to utilize his findings in the development of new mesothelioma treatment methods.
Dr. Bueno is the Director of the Photodynamic Therapy Program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and also manages the Thoracic Intermediate Care Unit. His mesothelioma-related research has been published in several medical journals, including the Journal of Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgery and the Journal of Pathology. Dr. Bueno has been ranked #1 in research quality by U.S. News & World Report.
