Nicholas Vogelzang MD
Dr. Nicholas Vogelzang serves as director of the Nevada Cancer Institute in Los Vegas. Dr. Vogelzang serves concurrently as Head of the Section of Genitourinary Cancer and is a leading expert in the treatment of malignant mesothelioma. Dr. Vogelzang was elected in 2006 to serve as the chair on the board of directors of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation.
Dr. Vogelzang received his degree in medicine from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1974. Thereafter, he completed his internship and residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Lukes Medical Center in Chicago. He then completed a fellowship in medical oncology at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. From 1983-2003, he served as a faculty member at the University of Chicago and is currently a professor of medicine at the University of Nevada School of Medicine.
Major interests include clinical trials in genitourinary malignancies and mesothelioma. In 2005, he edited Malignant Mesothelioma, the leading clinical textbook on the subject. Dr. Vogelzang has served on many clinical oncology committees including the American Society of Clinical Oncology and has served as president of the Illinois Division of the American Cancer Society.
