Graeme L. Hammond M.D.
Dr. Graeme L. Hammond specializes in Cardiothoracic Surgery. He obtained his Bachelors of Science from Denison University in Granville, Ohio. He then went on to receive his Medical Degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He was an intern of surgery at Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, Canada and did his residency in surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. While at Massachusetts General Hospital he completed a Clinical/Research Fellowship in surgery. Like most doctors he has held several academic positions. He was Assistant Professor, later becoming Associate Professor and eventually a Professor, of Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine. He continues to work as a Professor of Surgery at Yale. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
Dr. Hammond has been involved in research that uses trimodality therapy, which involves extrapleural pneumonectomy, and combines chemo and radiation therapy to kill cancer cells in malignant pleural mesothelioma.
